If you believe content on welcometowestgeorgia.com infringes a copyright you own or control, this page explains how to submit a takedown notice, what we do with it, and how to file a counter-notice if your content is removed by mistake.

Our Approach to Copyright

Welcome to West Georgia respects the intellectual property of others. If you believe that material on our site infringes a copyright you own or control, you may submit a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512.

This page explains how to submit a notice, who receives it, what happens next, and how counter-notices work.

What a Valid Notice Must Include

To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must include all six of the following:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the person authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or, if multiple works, a representative list).

3. Identification of the material that you claim is infringing and information reasonably sufficient to allow us to locate it (URLs are best).

4. Your contact information: address, telephone number, and email address.

5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.

6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

Designated Agent

Send your DMCA notice to our designated agent:

Designated DMCA Agent — Welcome to West Georgia

Email: dmca@welcometowestgeorgia.com

Mail: [MAILING_ADDRESS — pending]

Phone: 855-450-0442

We are working on completing our designated-agent registration with the U.S. Copyright Office. Once filed, the public registration will appear in the Copyright Office DMCA Designated Agent Directory.

What Happens After We Receive Your Notice

We will review the notice for completeness. If the notice meets the statutory requirements, we will remove or disable access to the identified material and notify the user who posted it. If the notice is incomplete, we will let you know what is missing so you can resubmit.

We may forward a copy of the notice (including your contact information) to the user who posted the material so they can submit a counter-notice if they choose to.

Counter-Notice

If you believe your material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice that includes:

1. Your physical or electronic signature.

2. Identification of the material removed and its location before removal.

3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief that the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.

4. Your name, address, and telephone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the district where you live (or, if outside the U.S., for any judicial district where we may be found), and that you will accept service from the original complainant or its agent.

Send counter-notices to dmca@welcometowestgeorgia.com.

Repeat-Infringer Policy

In appropriate circumstances, we will terminate the accounts of repeat infringers. We may also take other actions consistent with the DMCA and our Acceptable Use policy.

False Claims

Knowingly submitting a misrepresentation in a DMCA notice or counter-notice can result in liability for damages, costs, and attorneys’ fees under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Please make sure your claim is accurate before submitting.
